The Defence Industries Corporation of Nigeria D7G (DICON D7G) has urged Nigerians to support the Federal Government’s efforts at strengthening the nation’s security architecture, describing security as a collective responsibility that requires the commitment of all citizens.

The call was made by the Chief Executive Officer of DICON D7G, Osman Chenner, in a New Year message issued on Thursday to felicitate President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, and Nigerians on the dawn of 2026.

Chenner said the New Year presented a renewed opportunity for national consolidation, innovation and collective progress, particularly in addressing Nigeria’s persistent security challenges.

“Security is not the sole responsibility of government alone. It is a shared duty that requires the active participation and cooperation of all Nigerians, irrespective of background or status,” he said.

He commended President Tinubu for what he described as his unwavering commitment to strengthening the country’s defence and security framework through strategic reforms, technological innovation and enhanced collaboration among security agencies and private-sector partners.

According to him, the administration’s emphasis on reforms and innovation underscored the critical role of national security as the foundation for sustainable development, economic growth and national unity.

“Mr President has continued to demonstrate strong political will in repositioning Nigeria’s defence and security architecture.

His focus on innovation, local capacity development and strategic partnerships is key to building a more resilient and self-reliant security system,” Chenner stated.

The DICON D7G boss said the organisation was fully aligned with the Federal Government’s vision of leveraging indigenous capacity, modern defence solutions and strategic public-private partnerships to safeguard lives and property while promoting sustainable peace across the country.

He added that DICON D7G remained committed to supporting initiatives that enhance local defence production, intelligence-driven security operations and inter-agency cooperation.

“At DICON D7G, we are committed to advancing indigenous defence production, deploying modern security solutions and supporting intelligence-led operations that will improve national security outcomes,” he said.

Chenner also appealed to Nigerians, including communities, traditional institutions, civil society organisations and the private sector, to actively support government efforts by promoting unity, sharing credible intelligence and rejecting actions capable of undermining peace and stability.

“We urge Nigerians to remain vigilant, united and supportive of ongoing security efforts. Peace and stability can only be achieved when citizens work hand in hand with government and security agencies,” he added.

He expressed optimism that increased innovation, collaboration and decisive leadership would further position Nigeria on the path of improved security, economic growth and national cohesion in the New Year.
