Abia State Government has stated that its commitment to carrying the citizens along in its budget planning is to have their input into resources allocation.

The state Commissioner for Budget and Planning, Mr Kingsley Anosike, disclosed this during the Citizens’ Engagement Forum on 2026 Budget, held in Umuahia.

Anosike said the forum was designed to give Abians a voice in shaping how government resources were allocated and spent in the 2026 fiscal year.

The Commissioner equally disclosed that the programme was aimed at ensuring that the needs of the people were captured and given priority in the proposed budget.

He reaffirmed the commitment of Governor Alex Otti in ensuring that the state budget reflects the priorities and aspirations of its citizens. He noted that stakeholders from different walks of life, including the traditional institution, the clergy, civil society organisations, youths and physically challenged individuals were deliberately involved in the process to ensure inclusive representation.

The Commissioner noted that the practice of engaging citizens before finalizing the budget was already producing positive results.
