The Coalition of Osun APC Interest Groups (COAIG), advocating for zoning the Osun State governorship ticket to the West Senatorial District, has clarified that its stance is for fair and balanced representation, not personal interest.
The group warned other party factions to prioritise equality over personal advantage in their agitations.
Responding to the Osun Progressives Independent Forum (OPIF), COAIG’s Director of Public Engagement and Operations, Iwolode Samuel, emphasised that their position is rooted in fairness, equity, and balanced representation across Osun’s senatorial districts.
“Our agitation doesn’t revolve around a personality like the agenda of our brothers in OPIF. We are projecting an aspiration that considers the benefit of the majority over the comfort of an individual,” Samuel said.
COAIG highlighted the historical marginalisation of Osun West in governorship roles, advocating for zoning as a commitment to justice and equitable development.

“Osun West has long been marginalised in the governorship narrative of our state. Our call for zoning the APC gubernatorial ticket to Osun West is not just a matter of local pride but a commitment to justice and equitable development for all parts of the state,” the group stated.
The group asserted that zoning to Osun West would bring fresh perspectives and address unique developmental challenges in the district.
“A leader emerging from Osun West could bring innovative solutions and align district-wide developmental goals with our broader state objectives,” Samuel explained.
While acknowledging contributions from other districts, particularly Osun Central, COAIG stressed that their call for zoning aims to promote diversity and foster governance reflecting the state’s unique composition.
“This is not about discrediting others but about promoting diversity and ensuring governance that reflects the state’s rich diversity,” Samuel added.
The coalition urged a focus on district representation over individual aspirations, suggesting that this approach would foster healthy internal democracy by allowing multiple qualified candidates from Osun West to compete.
