The fourth edition of the Gabriel Olorunfemi Ajisola Foundation (GOAF) soccer tournament started during the week in Odo Ayedun,Ekiti State.
Chairman Organising Committee, Bankole Alasolewu, said the soccer competition formally started at the Odundun Fiyinfolu High School Football Ground, Odo Ayedun Ekiti, Ikole Local Government Area of Ekiti State.
The 2025 edition featured eight competing teams, with the opening match between TMD FC and Young Boys FC.
“The Gabriel Olorunfemi Ajisola Foundation (GOAF) Football tournament stands as a celebration of unity, youth empowerment, and community development through the noble spirit of football.
“The annual football fiesta has become a cherished community tradition, steadily growing in stature and significance. The competition continues to serve as a platform for fostering discipline, teamwork, and healthy rivalry among youths, while strengthening bonds across neighbouring communities during this festive season.
“This year’s fiesta is proudly supported by the Jewel Empowerment Foundation (JEF), whose partnership underscores a shared commitment to youth development and community empowerment”,he stated.
Meanwhile,the GOAF soccer competition sponsors,Cllr Babatunde Ajisola, said the
two finalist teams would be given brand-new football kits, in addition to monetary rewards, to further elevate the prestige of the competition.
“We are confident that the 2025 edition will surpass previous years in quality, excitement, and impact. Supporters and well-wishers are encouraged to follow the Foundation’s official platforms for timely updates, match results, and tournament highlights”,Ajisola said .
Highlight of the fixtures that began on December 16 was the matches between TMD FC vs Young Boys,even as Purple Kampany slugged it out with Legend Star.
On Wednesday, December 17, Odundun FC played with Falcons team as Young City slug it out with Champion FC
Meanwhile on Thursday, December 18, Legend Star FC had a date with Purple Kampany as the Young Boys faces TMD FC.
The fourth day, December 19, Champion FC tackled Young City FC as Falcons team slug it out with Odundun FC.
