Despite release of Twelve billion naira (N12 billion) by the Federal Government of Nigeria, it’s now official that Team Nigeria will not get to be on the medals table for the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris France, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

Minister of Sports, Senator John Enoh agreed that the performance of Team Nigeria has been woeful since the start of the games.

Team Nigeria went to the Olympics on the back of some great performances in qualifying events. They registered for 12 events, but sadly like previous Games failed to translate its continental dominance at the Olympics. Only a few athletes like Tobi Amusan, Ese Brume, Blessing Oborodudu, Ruth Usoro, Pristina Ochonogor, and Ogazi, among others, gave the country little hope but failed in the end.

The country’s last athlete Hannah Reuben competed in Wrestling 76kg on Saturday and suffered defeat.

She lost 5-2 to Mongolian’s Davaanasan Amar Enkh. It is Nigeria’s worst outing at the Olympics since London 2012.

The next Olympics will be staged in Los Angeles in 2028.
