South African artist, Tyla dominated the 30th MTV Europe Music Awards in Manchester, United Kingdom, on Sunday, winning three awards.
She knocked out Nigerian singers Asake, Tems, Rema, Burna Boy, and Ayra Starr to win the Best Afrobeats Artist award.
She also won the Best African Act award, beating out Ayra Starr, Asake, DBN Gogo, TitoM & Yuppe, and Diamond Platnumz.
Tyla won her third prize of the night, Best R&B Artist, ahead of American superstars Kehlani, SZA, Tinashe, Usher, and Victoria Monét.
She finished the lovely evening with an acoustic performance of her hit song ‘Water.’
Meanwhile, Nigerian singer Ayra Starr lost all four nominations for Best African Act, Best New Artist, Best Afrobeats Artist, and Best Push.
