The All Progressives Congress (APC) Organizing Secretary in the South East, Mr Dozie Ikedife (jnr) said, yesterday, in Nnewi that preparations were on top gear to ensure landslide victory for his political party in the zone.
Mr Ikedife (jnr) said the party had done enough grassroots mobilization covering many grounds in the five States of the South East and the Council Areas therein.
He noted that from all indications, the party was getting warm reception wherever it went.
” We are optimistic that our candidate is going to win in the upcoming presidential election. I believe that our party and our candidate will have over twenty five percent in over thirty States of the Federation and also win majority of the votes cast.
“If the election were to be held today, Amed Tinubu will be elected President, ” he said.
He insisted that the APC candidate had overwhelming support across the six geopolitical zones while his opponents could, according to him, boast of their catchment areas which he said were their individual geopolitical zones.
On whether his party manifesto is friendly enough to take care of every segment of the population, Ikedife assured that the APC’s manifesto was very youth and women friendly without losing sight of other portions of the population both active and non active.
“It is quite a progressive manifesto. You should understand that we have a courageous person as our presidential candidate. He is a man who is ready to serve and protect the generality of Nigerians.
“Our presidential candidate is the only candidate that has the courage to stand up to speak against the cashless policy of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN). Days after his condemnation of the policy, it became a very popular position.
“So, we have a courageous man as our candidate. The man who said even when it becomes obvious that you have made a bad policy, nothing stops you from reversing yourself and do the right thing, ” he said.
On why his party does not mention corruption often in their campaign, Mr Ikedife said that the APC governement had the best record in fighting corruption. He noted that the President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration had done well in that regard.
Mr Ikedife also said that several mock polls that favoured the Labour Party (LP) candidate, Mr Peter Obi should not be used as a yardstick to determine who would win the February 25 presidential election.
He cited such polls in 2015 that favoured former President Goodluck Jonathan which he said could not be a reality.
Mr Ikedife further warned against religious politics which he said would not be in the best interest of the nation’s democracy.
