The Minister of State for Budget and National Planning Mr. Clement Agba has pledged his support for Chief Chijioke Ekwueme, the House of Representatives candidate of All Progressive Party (APC) for Igbo-Etiti/Uzo-Uwani Federal Constituency of Enugu State.

Agbo made the declaration on Tuesday in Nsukka during the flag-off of Ekwueme’s campaign at Ogbede, the Igbo-Etiti council headquarters.

He said that the support has become necessary because of numerous projects Ekwueme has attracted and executed in his constituency as an individual which he said has endeared him to the constituents.

“I am here today to pledge my support and solidarity to Ekwueme, also, I am overwhelmed by the crowd here today, and the support you people have been showing him and APC.

“This is a confirmation that people of his constituency appreciated his contributions to the development of the area even as a private individual.

“If Ekwueme can single-handedly attract the 11.5KM Aku-Lejja-Nsukka asphalt road from the federal government, built solar-powered boreholes, solar powered street lights among others, you can imagine what he will do if elected in 2023 to represent the constituency.

“Federal Government under the rulership of APC is doing everything possible to ensure that 2023 general election is free and fair, so as you cast your vote for Ekwueme and all the candidates of APC, be rest assured of quality representation, good governance and equitable distribution of democracy dividend,” he said.

The minister who decried the deplorable state of roads in Enugu state blamed it on state and local governments’ poor road maintenance culture, he enjoined the people to stick their support with Ekwueme and other APC candidates to enable them to enjoy rapid developmental projects.

Speaking, Ekwueme said one of the reasons he decided to contest was because his survey showed that 95 per cent of constituents were tired of PDP’s representation in the past 23 years as the majority of the communities have no access road, potable water, and infrastructure over the period.

“Some of the people in the constituency told me that they are tired of the ruling party in the state as well as their representative in the past as the constituency has been neglected and has nothing to show in terms of infrastructural development,” he said.

Ekwueme said further that his massive support might not be unconnected with the access roads, solar-powered boreholes, empowerment, and scholarship among others he provided to the people even as an individual.

He expressed appreciation to the party faithful and his supporters who came from far and near to witness the flag-off of his campaign and assured them that if elected that he will justify the confidence people have in him.

Also speaking, Ambassador Ejike Eze, candidate of APC in Enugu North Senatorial District described Ekwueme as one who has done much for his people even without holding an elective position, adding that he is not only a good asset to the constituency, Enugu state, the country, and humanity.

In separate remarks, the APC Chairman of Igbo-Etiti LG Mr. Chibuike Onoduagu, and his Uzo-Uwani LG counterpart Chief Christopher Ajodu said that their local governments have benefited much from Ekwueme, they stated that this is the right time to pay him back with their votes.
