In the run-up to the general election, YIAGA Africa has challenged young women to stand up and project themselves in the leadership and governance of the nation.
Director of Programmes, YIAGA Africa, Cynthia Mbamalu, admonished young women to exercise their rights and be an advocate for development in governance in the nation.
Enlightening a group of young females at a community organising training, organised by YIAGA Africa, Cynthia told them to leave their footprints in the sand of time.
She said governance is directed more to the male gender because of the colonial years where women were not allowed to vote.
Mbamalu charged young women to build a reputable self identity for themselves to gain respect in the society as an identity that is not set well will have problems due to faulty foundation.
She also advised them to grow their mindsets by developing the ability to take criticisms, ability to listen and the open-mindedness to learn.
Another official, Ezenwa Nwagwu, encouraged young females to participate fully in the democratic proceedings of the coming year as participation is the strongest decimal in democracy.
