Ezza speaking people of Ebonyi state yesterday unanimously adopted the former Lagos Governor and presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Tinubu,as their preferred candidate for the 2023 presidential elections.
They also adopted the Speaker of Ebonyi state House of Assembly and the gubernatorial candidate of APC in the state, Francis Nwifuru, as their sole candidate for the governorship of Ebonyi state come 2023.
The Ezza people, comprising political office holders, APC candidates, women and youth groups, community leaders, traditional and religious leaders announced the adoptions at Onueke, the ancestral home of Ezza people on Sunday.
They emphasized their preparedness to work for the victory of the two APC candidates in 2023 and all candidates of the APC in the state, and urged other contestants for the positions to wait for next political dispensation.
In a motion moved by Dr. Livinus Ezeuwa and seconded by Chief Ikeuwa Omabe, from Ezza North local government area, the people further noted that Nwifuru’s candidature was in line with equity, justice and fairness in governorship rotation in the state, and urged all parts of the state to support him to emerge Governor next year.
Dr. Ezeuwa also explained that Nwifuru emerged candidate of the APC after he was nominated by a zoning Committee set up by leadership of the party in the state.
He argued that it was the turn of Izzi clan of Ebonyi North Senatorial district, where the Speaker hails from, to produce the next Governor of the state.
“With the peaceful and harmonious relationship existing between Ezza people and Izzi people which started from time immemorial, the Ezza people are confident that supporting an Izzi governorship in 2023 will help Ezza nation to produce the next Governor of the state in 2031.
“We are also of the view that with his capable leadership of Ebonyi state House of Assembly as speaker, and his various displays of admirable leadership qualities, Chief Francis Nwifuru is eminently qualified to become the governor of Ebonyi state in 2023.
“Consequently, Ezza nation hereby adopts all candidates of the APC from House of Assembly, Senate , Governorship and President as their candidates for the 2023 general elections” he said
Nwifuru in his speech commended them for the unity and peace that exist among them.
He explained that Izzi and Ezza clans are brothers and would continue to work together for peace, unity and progress of their people and Ebonyi state in general.
He promised to pursue peace, unity and progress if elected Governor in 2023.
The meeting was attended by Secretary to Ebonyi state Government, Dr. Kenneth Ugbala; a prominent stakeholder and former member of the House of Representatives, Chief Innocent Ugochima; APC candidate for Ebonyi central, Ken Eze; APC House of Assembly and House of Representatives candidates, council Chairmen, government functionaries and FON support groups.
