2023: Accord Party disowns Adeniyi as Chairman

The leadership of Accord Party has denounced an ex officio member of the party, Reverend Isaac Adeniyi, as its national chairman.

In a statement signed by the party’s Director General, Lagos Campaign Council, Comr. Lanre Ogundare, the party said its attention had been drawn to reports making the rounds that Adenyi is parading himself as the party’s chairman.

Ogundare on behalf of the party, condemned in strong terms what it called illegitimacy and blatant violation of court ruling and established consensus of the national executive which declared Adeniyi an ex officio member of the party until his eventual expulsion.

He therefore called on the general public, members, teeming supporters and well-wishers of the party, to disregard and reject the position canvassed by Rev. Adeniyi.

Ogundare said:”As you all know, you
cannot give what you don’t have. The recognized leadership of the party by INEC still remains the body that submitted candidates to INEC for 2023 election, and same published by INEC.

“Accord National leadership under the able leadership of Alh. Muhammed Nalado frowns at this illegitimacy and blatant violation of court ruling as orchestrated by Adeniyi, who by established rule, order and executive consensus of the national executive only remain an Ex Officio member of the party before his expulsion from the party.

“Accord’s highest hierarchy however advises the media to disregard reports from elements currently uncomfortable with the rising political fortune of Accord party which remain a force to beat in the ongoing 2023 general elections.

“The leadership however makes bold to announce to members of the public that Rev. Adeniyi lacks the locus standi and moral justification to parade himself as authority, conferred with the right to speak for the Accord in the urgency of now, as he never fielded nor nominated any candidates as published by the INEC.

“Therefore, I am directed to inform all Accord members, executives and our teeming supporters to go about their campaign activities lawfully as victory awaits our candidates.”
