The People Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate in the 2015 general election in Niger State, Hon. Umar Nasko has, again, emerged the winner of the party primary for the 2019 general election.
He defeated a former Nigerian envoy to South Africa, Alhaji Ahmed Ibeto and four others in a peaceful primary attended by 2,809 party delegates from the 25 local government areas of the state.
Others who contested the primary with him are Hannafi Sudan, Umar Daggon Kwoli, and Aminu Baka.

Announcing the results under heavy security presence, the chairman congress committee, Dr. Baraka Sani, said Umar Nasko pulled a total of 1,972 votes to emerged the winner.
He was closely followed by the former Nigeria envoy and former Deputy Governor of the state, Alhaji Ahmed Ibeto with 516, Hannafi Sudan 157, Aminu Baka 110 and Daggon Kwoli 24 votes.
Nasko flied the flag of the party in the 2015 election but lost to the incumbent Governor, Alhaji Abubakar Sani Bello.
The primary was supervised by Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) led by the Residence electoral commissioner, Prof. Sam Egwu.
