2019: Ogun PDP names Kashamu as chair of 42-man Atiku Campaign c’ittee

Laide Raheem, Abeokuta

The Ogun State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), believed to be loyal to the Sen. representing Ogun East in the National Assembly, Buruji Kashamu, on Wednesday, inaugurated a 42-man Atiku Abubakar Presidential Campaign Committee.

The committee, which is to be headed by Kashamu, himself, will have the party chairman, Bayo Dayo, deputy chairman, while the state Secretary, Semiu Sodipo, will serve as the Secretary of the campaign committee.

Daily Sun recalls that Kashamu, Dayo and Sodipo, had been expelled by the national leadership of the party led by the national chairman, Uche Secondus.

But the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), obeying a court order, recognized and accepted list of candidates submitted by Kashamu faction of the party against the list of candidates submitted by Uche Secondus-led National Working Committee (NWC) of PDP.

Speaking at the inauguration of the committee yesterday at the party’s secretariat in Abeokuta, Dayo, urged the committee members to work together and ensure Atiku emerges winner in the 2019 presidential election.

He also expressed confidence that PDP will unseat the ruling party in the state come 2019, saying “power of incumbency can’t stop us this time around.”

“Our presidential candidate is a man of the people and he is a man that can lead the nation.

“Let’s start our works in all the wards. Ogun should be one of the states to win election for Atiku.

“It is not easy to wrest power from the incumbent government. We have to move to the wards and talk to the people.

“We still have some people that are parading themselves in Ogun as candidates. We have the list that is duly signed by the Independent National Electoral Committee (INEC).

“We won’t fight anybody because PDP is one family in Ogun. We are going to do reconciliation”. Dayo submitted.
