It was a day of testimonies, tears, and thanksgiving at Solution Embassy of Prevailing Faith Chapel International, Asaba, as Pastor Mike Okpan and his wife, Edith Okpan, renewed their marriage vows to mark 20 years of covenant.
The vow renewal service, themed “Covenant Kept” (Lamentations 3:22-23), was held over the weekend and drew members, family, friends, and well-wishers from across Delta State.
The couple, who have served together in ministry for two decades, stood before God and the congregation to reaffirm their commitment to each other.
In his vow, Pastor Mike Okpan described his wife as his “partner in prayer, in ministry, and in life”, and also called her his “Babygirl for life”.
“My Babygirl for life, 20 years ago God brought us together. You have stood with me in the pulpit and behind the scenes. Today I renew my covenant to love you as Christ loves the Church, to honor you, and to walk with you into the next chapter of our lives. You are still the one I choose,” he said.
Mrs Edith Okpan, visibly emotional, thanked God for His faithfulness.
“God gave me a gift in you, Pastor Mike. Thank you for being a godly husband and priest in our home. I renew my vow to stand with you, pray with you, and build with you. I choose you again,” she declared.
The service featured praise, scripture readings from Ephesians 5 and Ecclesiastes 4, testimonies from church leaders and children, dancing, and a special prayer of blessing for the couple.
The officiating minister, Pastor Bukola David Olanrewaju, prayed for renewed strength, long life, and fresh grace upon the Okpans and their ministry at Solution Embassy of Prevailing Faith Chapel International.
Members also presented the couple with gifts, including an anniversary plaque and a thanksgiving offering to missions in honour of their 20 years of marriage.
Church members described the Okpans as a model for Christian homes and ministry couples.
Engr Richard Temienor, an elder in the church, said: “Your marriage has been a testimony, 20 years of serving God together in Asaba. We are blessed to witness this.”
Mr Vincent Okpan, father of Pastor Mike, said that in 20 years of marriage, he had never received any complaint from his daughter-in-law nor from his son.
The event ended with communion, cake cutting, and a reception.
