A 20-year-old woman has died by suicide after allegedly being raped by a content creator who had promised to train her in content creation in Delta State.
The deceased, Favour Agbro, who reportedly told her family she was a virgin before the alleged assault, was said to have been overwhelmed by the trauma and emotional distress that followed the incident.
The Delta State Police Command has arrested the suspect, Ifeanyi Ogbonna, 40, popularly known as “Odogwu of Asaba,” in connection with the alleged rape.
The arrest followed a petition received by the Command alleging that on June 1, 2026, the deceased travelled to Asaba at the invitation of the suspect, who had offered to train her in content creation, a programme he allegedly promoted through his social media platform.
According to the Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe, the suspect allegedly took the young woman to a hotel immediately after her arrival in Asaba, where he allegedly raped her and physically assaulted her.
Edafe said the victim later returned home visibly traumatised and narrated the incident to her parents.
He added that in the aftermath of the alleged assault, the deceased recorded a video in which she recounted her experience and described the emotional pain and psychological trauma she had suffered following the incident.
