Kaduna State Police Command has arrested 20 suspected armed robbers and kidnappers responsible for terrorising the North West. Some weapons and ammunition were recovered from their hideouts in Lere Local Government.

Commissioner of Police, Audu Ali Dabigi, said: “We are tackling the bandits in their various hideouts in the forests. My officers are up to the task. We deployed some operatives of the Tactical Team to flashpoints on Kaduna-Abuja Expressway and Kaduna-Zaira Expressway. There will be constant raiding of the forests and 48-hour patrol surveillance to checkmate the hoodlums.

“I have charged the officers to ensure discipline and professionalism in the discharge of their duties and adhere strictly to police tradition governing the service.

“The Divisional Police Station, Maigana, mobilised its patrol team with local vigilance group and arrested five kidnappers who hail from Tafa Local Government, Niger State. A black Toyota Land Cruiser jeep, 2013 model, arms and ammunition were recovered.

“Operatives arrested four notorious kidnappers in Zaira Local Government and rescued five victims from Yakassai village. Other members of the gang escaped and abandoned their ammunition.

“Police in Tundun Wada Division conducting a routine patrol near Agoro level  crossing intercepted two suspected bandits from Faskari LG and recovered AK47 rifles, pump action and five vehicles.

“Police joint patrol team including a hunter group arrested four kidnappers. They were arrested in Lere LG. Divisional police officers in Saminaka through intelligence arrested three notorious armed robbers in Upara Warsapiti, Lere LG.

“The suspects were found in possession of a bag containing N347,000. The suspects confessed being involved in kidnapping and collect ransom from a victim one Yakubu and two others from Binchim village, Bassa Local Government, Plateau State and later released them.
