2 notorious robbers nabbed in Lagos

The Lagos State Police Command has arrested two  suspected  notorious robbers who had been  terrorising residents and commuters under the Iyana Iba bridge and Ajegunle area of the state .

While the suspect at Iba was arrested by policemen from Ojo Police Station, led by CSP Omolola  Opeifa ,while the Ajegunle suspect was arrested by the operatives of the Tactical Squad in the area .

Lagos state police public relations officer,SP Abimbola Adebisi confirmed the arrest of the suspects in a statement, saying    that ATM Cards  and ammunition were recovered from the suspects .

The PPRO, said: “The Lagos State Police Command has recorded another significant operational success with the arrest of two suspected armed robbers and the recovery of firearms and ammunition during separate intelligence-led operations in Ajegunle and Ojo areas of the State.

“In Ajegunle, credible intelligence was received on the activities of suspected hoodlums, who allegedly operated with commercial motorcycles while armed with dangerous weapons to dispossess unsuspecting members of the public of their belongings.

“ Acting swiftly on the information, operatives of the Command Tactical Team, Thunder Blast, were deployed to the area and successfully arrested one Waheed Orelope,27.

“During preliminary investigation, one  locally made pistol and two live cartridges were recovered.

“Similarly, based on credible intelligence that some hoodlums had taken over the Iyana Iba Under Bridge area, Ojo, posing a threat to commuters and residents, the Surveillance Team of the Ojo Division was immediately deployed to the location.

“The operation led to the arrest of one Wasiu Shonibare, 29. One  locally made pistol was recovered from the suspect.

“The  suspects have been taken into custody, while investigations are ongoing to ascertain their level of involvement and to identify other members of the criminal gang.

“ Further developments will be communicated as the investigation progresses.”

However, Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, Olohundare Jimoh, reiterated  the Command’s unwavering commitment to proactive policing and the protection of lives and property across Lagos State

He urged members of the public to continue to support the police with timely and credible information .
