The Lagos State Police Command has arrested two suspected robbers who robbed three commercial sex workers.
The suspects who had been on the police watch list, were nabbed after they were identified by the sex workers; the sex workers claimed they robbed them of their phones and other personal belongings.
According to the police, on August 23, 2024, the suspects picked the sex workers with their Toyota Camry car on Adeniran Ogunsanya Street/Bode Thomas in Surulere, claiming that were taking them to the hotel where they lodged. But all of a sudden, the driver of the car parked, and ordered them to surrender their belongings to them.
“In the process, two iPhones, valued at N1.5 million, one Redmi note 12, valued at N140,000, iPhone SE, valued at N240,000, were forcefully collected from them.
“Also, the suspects compelled them to transfer the sum of ₦ 25,000 to an account and another N8,000 to the same account.
“During interrogation after their arrest, the suspects confessed to the crime. Their Toyota Camry car golden colour, with registration number: APP 335 JA with two other blank number plates that they used during the operation, and one of the victim’s phones, Redmi note 12, were recovered from them.”
Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) SP Benjamin Hundyin, confirmed the story, saying that investigation was in progress to know how many victims, especially commercial sex workers had been robbed.
