A security guard and another unidentified resident have been killed in a cult clash in Aiyetoro in the Ijanikin area of Lagos State.
It was gathered that the latest killings occurred as a result of clashes between two rival groups- the Aiye and Eiye cults, over control of the security of one of the streets in Aiyetoro community.
It was further gathered that the cultists mutilated the body of the guard whom they lured out from his house to where he was killed, adding that a resident had allegedly reported to the victim how his phone was forcefully collected by a member of the Aiye.
“The victim brokered peace between the owner of the phone and the cult gang members. After the peace meeting, the gang members promised to return the phone. Two days later, the cultists called the security man to come and collect the phone. He went and collected the phone and handed it over to the owner.
“However, the gang members fired a shot at the victim as he was leaving the area. Other members of the gang started inflicting machete cuts on him until they reduced his body to a hip of meat,” a resident, who pleaded anonymity, said.
Residents who witnessed the incident could not intervene as the killer cultists left two motorcycles untouched. The second killing of a 28-year-old at a roadside was in the Iyana-Era area of Ijanikin. Why he was killed could not be ascertained at the time of this report.
When contacted for comment, the Lagos State Police Command’s spokesperson, Benjamin Hundeyin, said he was not aware of the killings.
