2 children drown in stagnant mud water in Edo

Two children have reportedly drowned in a stagnant mud water at Erediauwa street, off Sapele Road in Ikpoba-Okha Local Government Area of Edo State.

The bodies of the children were said to have been fished out dead while two others were resuscitated at a nearby hospital they were rushed to for medical attention.

It was learnt that the four children had gone to play in the area where the state government designated as flood water collection point.

Witnesses said the children slipped into the flood water while they were playing.

Confirming the incident, spokesman of the Edo State Police Command, Eno Ikoedem, said rescue team were quickly dispatch to the place when information about the incident was received, adding that two of the children died and two others taken to the hospital.
