150 participants to compete for Chinese Ambassador’s Wushu tournament

A total number of 150 sports enthusiasts, will from October 29 to 31, compete for the Chinese Ambassador’s Wushu tournament.

The event, according to the organisers, is billed to hold at the Moshood Abiola National Stadium, Abuja.

Speaking at a media parley in Abuja, the Cultural Counsellor, China Cultural Centre in Nigeria, Yang Jianxing, said Chinese people loved Wushu and the Chinese Embassy in Nigeria is very delighted to know that so many Nigerian friends also like Wushu.

Yang also said the purpose for the event was to create opportunity of bringing people and lover of Wushu together and enjoy the beauty and the spirit of China Wushu culture.

He further said the Embassy hoped that the event would not only be a fighting competition, but a good opportunity to share collective values, especially the mutual respect between both countries, the inner peace and discipline.

Also speaking, the Patron of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Wushu Association, Mykel Enedawa, said Wushu is a tool for peace and a tool for the promotion of values.

Enedawa also said Wushu has become a tool which Nigeria and China can use as cultural exchange and to bridge the friendship between both countries.

On his part, the North Central Zonal Representative, Nigeria Wushu Kungfu Federation, Sesan Adeboyejo, said the partnership between the National Sports Council, Nigeria Wushu Kungfu Federation, is what the group had always dreamt of coming into reality.

He also said the main purpose of the event was for youth engagement and cultural exchange between Nigeria and China.
