A total of 137 local government areas in the South West states of Oyo, Ondo, Ogun, Osun, Ekiti, and Lagos, in Nigeria will benefit from Digital Education for Innovation and Economic Development (DEFINED) project organised by the Odu’a Investment Foundation (OIF).
The project, which aims to boost the digital skills of youths in the region, will be launched on October 24, 2023, at the Lagos Airport Hotel in Ikeja, Lagos.
The DEFINED project is expected to transform traditional education by integrating digital skills and technologies into the first 12 years of education. This will enable youths to acquire relevant knowledge and practical experience for the digital revolution right from their formative stages.
The project will be implemented in all the 137 local government areas of Oyo, Ondo, Ogun, Osun, Ekiti, and Lagos. It will foster transformative entrepreneurship and employment opportunities for youths in Southwest Nigeria.
According to Victor Ayetoro, the Head of Branding and Communication at Odu’a Investment, the project will involve the development of comprehensive curricula, coding clubs, coding competitions, and innovation hubs. This will promote innovation, economic growth, and sustainable development in the region.
The DEFINED project will launch with a hybrid session that will involve physical and Zoom participation of secondary school students across the six states of Southwest Nigeria. The project heralds a new era of digital revolution for Nigeria.
This innovative project by the Odu’a Investment Foundation is believed to be significant step towards developing the digital capabilities of youths and preparing them to participate in the global digital economy. It’s a milestone worth celebrating.
