The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) said a total of 111, 618 Permanent Voters Cards (PVCs), registered by the commission, have not been collected by the registrants.

INEC Resident Electoral Commissioner in Borno, Mohammed Ibrahim, disclosed this on Friday while unveiling PVCs distribution at a meeting with the Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC), in Maiduguri, the state capital.

Represented by the Head of Voters Education and Publicity, Shaibu Ibrahim, he said voter registration rose from 2.32 million to 2.51 million at the end of  Continuous Voters’ Registration (CVR).  He said the commission had received replacement of PVCs, as well as transfer to allow eligible voters exercise their franchise in the coming elections.

“We’ve just received 54,949 replacements and transfers of PVCs,” he disclosed.  He reiterated that the general elections would be held on February 25, and March 11, 2023, for Presidential and National Assembly, Governorship and State Assembly elections respectively.

He reminded voters of the use of the automated bimodal identification system (ABIS) during the poll.
