11 states will be submerged in flood this year, warns FG

Federal Government has warned that 11 states would be submerged in flood on September 14 and 18, 2025.

In a statement, Director, Erosion Flood and Coastal Zone Management Department, Usman Abdullahi Bokani, said that the 11 states and locations include Adamawa State, (Ganga and Natubi); Benue State (Abinsi, Gogo, Agyo, Ito, Makurdi, Idoma, Ukpiam); Nasarawa State (Agima, Rukunbi, Odogbo); Taraba State (Beli, Serti, Donga) and Delta State (Umugboma, Umukwata, Abraka Aboh, Okpokrika).

Others are Niger State (Rijau); Kano, (Gwazo, Karaye); Sokoto State (Makira); Kebbi State, (Ribah); Katsina (Jibia) and
Zamfara State, (Kaura Namoda, Shinkafi, Maradun, Guzau, Anka, Bungudu).

The federal government, through the National Early Warning Centre, said that the areas would be flooded due to the rise in water level of Rivers Gongola, Benue and Niger. It also warned communities along the flood plain of River Gongola up to Numan and River Benue and Niger up to Lokoja to evacuate before it’s too late
