The National Agency for the Control of AIDS (NACA) has disclosed that 10 states—namely Akwa Ibom, Anambra, Benue, Cross River, Ebonyi, FCT, Gombe, Kano, Kwara, and Lagos—would serve as pilots for the introduction of an HIV prevention drug in the country this month.
NACA spokesperson, Mrs Toyin Aderigbibe, in a statement on Monday, disclosed that plans have reached an advanced stage for the introduction and rollout of Lenacapavir (LEN) as Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis (PrEP).

She said the Federal Government has set up coordinated efforts to strongly position Nigeria for a structured and quality-assured rollout of LEN PrEP in the priority states.
She confirmed that Nigeria is on track for the phased introduction of LEN PrEP, supported by regulatory approval, system preparedness, trained personnel, and community engagement strategies.
She also confirmed that regulatory approval by the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has been secured, and that the necessary National Training of Trainers (NToT) has been conducted in Abuja with subsequent step-down training of healthcare workers in the states of implementation.
