1, 576 graduands to participate in 6th Bingham university convocation

A total of 1, 576 graduands comprising 1116 undergraduates and 460 postgraduates will participate in the 6th convocation ceremony of the Bingham University, Karu, Abuja. 

Vice Chancellor, Prof. Haruna Kuje Ayuba, disclosed this at a press conference in Abuja, on Tuesday.

Breakdown of the figure indicated First Class (82), Second Class Upper (464), Second Class Lower (260), Third Class (40), Pass (02)
Unclassified (B. Pharm, MBBS, ) 268.

For the postgraduate programmes, PhD (44), Academic Masters (158), Professional Masters (200), and Postgraduate Diploma (58).

The Vice Chancellor confirmed that the graduating students successfully completed their academic and non-academic programmes, and have also been found worthy in both character and learning to be awarded undergraduate and postgraduate degree in various disciplines for which they were trained in the 2024/2025 academic session.

The VC also stated that 6th convocation ceremony schedule for the weekend is a momentous occasion for the University because it provides an opportunity for the school to listen to an insightful and inspiring convocation lecture, recognize and celebrate the hard work and dedication of the graduating students through the award of degrees and prizes.

“It also showcase some of the modest achievements of the University; and celebrate the 20th anniversary of the University through the unveiling of the 20th anniversary commemorative book tilted ‘Bingham University @ 20’.

He further stated that the ECWA President and Chairman of Bingham University Board of Trustees, Dr. Job Ayuba Bagat Mallam, will serve as the Chief Host, while the Chancellor and Chairman of the ceremony will be the Esu Karu, His Royal Highness, Dr. Luka Baba Panya.

He said: “Bingham University was established by the Evangelical Church Wining All (ECWA) in 2005. The founding fathers envisioned a university that would be conventional in nature but one that incorporates core values of the Christian faith.

“Our vision is to be a world-class conventional university in a Christ-centered environment while our mission statement is to produce graduates that have both knowledge and skills for self-reliance and in the fear of Christ.

“Today, the university has a total of 15 Faculties, 63 Departments that offer 48 undergraduate and 59 postgraduate programmes. The main campus is here in Karu while the Teaching Hospital and College of Medical Sciences are in Jos Campus.

“We have had four past Vice-Chancellors that contributed to the growth and development of the University. These were Prof. Aaron Gana 2005- 2007; Prof. Felix Anjonri 2007 –2013; Prof. Leonard Fwa, 2013 -2017; and Prof. William B. Qurix, OFR, FNIA 2018 to Jan 7, 2024. By the grace of God, I took over as the 5th substantive Vice Chancellor on the 8th of January 2024.

“May I seize this opportunity to pay tribute to these past Vice-Chancellors as well as all the past and present members of the Board of Trustees, the Governing Council, Senate, and the Management Committee for the sacrifices they made toward the development of the University over these years.”
