Borno governor, Babagana Zulum has kicked off a N7 9 billion flyover in Maiduguri, the third of such family in six years in the m state capital.

Zulum while flagging off the construction of the flyover on Saturday, said it was designed to ease traffic congestion in the metropolis.

“This flyover is to reduce congestion in the city. This is another one after the two completed ones We shall continue to work,” he disclosed

He said the project was in fulfilment of his electioneering campaigns promise to ensure urban renewal of towns in Borno especially Maiduguri, the capital.

He seee aid the construction expected to complete in a year, will provide job opportunities for many youths. He said about N4 billion has been paid to the contractors even as he maintained there won’t be contract variation.

Commissioner for works, Engr Mustapha Gubio said the contract for the flyover was signed last week. He explained the facility spans 472 meters length while the length of the bridge will be 5.5 metres long.

He assured that adequate arrangements have been out in place fo control traffic in the area throughout the period of the construction.
