Zenith General Insurance Ltd said it paid about N5bn as claims in 2023 as it ought to, helping the Claimants to return to old normal after suffering losses as a result of unfortunate incidents.
The Managing Director/CEO of the company, Mr. Jude Modilim, disclosed this during a courtesy visit by the executive members of Nigerian Association of Insurance and Pension Editors (NAIPE).
“I often engaged those who said insurance companies are not paying claims to come forward with any claim they have that has not been paid, none of them have been able to do that, the public needs to know that insurance companies are paying claims. Through your reports, people will know that insurance works,” Mr. Modilim said.
The MD who sought partnership with NAIPE to deepen insurance penetration, and scale up growth also commended them for introducing initiatives and embarking on programmes targeted to rev up industry’s growth, noting that such would go a long way to change the industry’s narrative.
“We are open for a mutually- beneficial partnership; one that tells them about our ability to pay claims. I am very impressed with some of your programmes designed to create insurance awareness such as Claims Profiling, and Testimonials Reporting. These are very good, it will go a long way in deepening insurance penetration which the NAICOM and the entire industry is yearning for,” he stressed.
In response, the Chairperson of NAIPE, who is also the publisher of BusinessTodayNG, Mrs. Nkechi Naeche-Esezobor said, “We are worried about low insurance penetration in Nigeria and the poor perception of Nigerians about insurance but we are working tirelessly to change this negative narrative.
“Products Profiling; Management Profiling; Claims Profiling; Quarterly CEO Forum are some of our initiatives. I urged insurance companies to take advantage of them to enhance their performances,” she implored.
