Bandits have killed at least two people and abducted several others in an attack on Banga village, Kaura Namoda Local Government Area of Zamfara State.

An eyewitness, Adamu Kaura, told our correspondent in Gusau that the armed group hit the village around midnight on Tuesday. He said they fired shots everywhere, sparking panic among residents.

“The attackers killed an elderly man and an 18-year-old girl during the attack on the community,” he added.

A joint security team, backed by the Nigerian Air Force, fought back, killing several bandits. Others escaped with gunshot wounds. This time, the attackers couldn’t steal any cattle, unlike their usual raids.

The Zamfara State Police Command confirmed the attack, noting two deaths and multiple abductions.

Spokesperson DSP Yazid Abubakar said they’re still investigating how many were taken. Efforts are underway to rescue the victims, he added.
