Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, on Wednesday extended his condolences to the Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi II, the Kano Emirate Council, and the Kano State Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Abdullahi Abbas, over the passing of the revered Galadiman Kano, Abbas Sanusi.
The late Galadiman Kano, who passed away at the age of 91 on Tuesday night in Kano, was a distinguished elder statesman and a pillar of the Kano Emirate, the governor said.
A statement signed by the Commissioner for Information and Internal Affairs, Ibrahim Abdullahi Waiya, noted that the deceased dedicated his life to serving the Emirate. It recalled that the late Galadima held key traditional positions, including Wamban Kano, and played a crucial advisory role under the late Emir of Kano, Ado Bayero.
Yusuf described the loss as a huge tragedy, not only to the Emirate but to the entire people of Kano State, extolling the virtues of the late Galadiman Kano, whom he described as a man of wisdom, discipline, and unwavering commitment to the preservation of Kano’s cultural and traditional heritage.
“The passing of Alhaji Abbas Sanusi is a great loss to Kano State. He was a father to many and a custodian of our rich traditions. His wisdom and contributions to the progress of the Emirate will be remembered for generations,” Yusuf added.
In addition, the governor extended his heartfelt condolences to the entire people of Kano State over the monumental loss and prayed for Almighty Allah’s mercy upon the departed soul. He prayed that Allah would grant the family the strength to bear this great loss and urged the people of Kano to remember the late Galadiman Kano in their prayers and uphold the values of unity and service that he stood for.
