The World Institute for Peace (WIP) has conferred its highest award titled ‘The Bearer of Security Torch,’ on General Christopher Gwabim Musa, the Chief of Defence Staff of the Armed Forces of Nigeria.

The Executive Director, WIP, Chief Lamina Kamiludeen Omotoyosi, yesterday, said the annual international peace conference, titled “World Peace Conference and Award Nigeria 2025,” would take place on June 20, 2025, at the Nigerian Army Resource Center Abuja.

Omotoyosi said: “During the conference, the Institute will honor General Christopher Gwabim Musa, the Chief of Defence Staff of the Armed Forces of Nigeria, with its highest award titled “The Bearer of Security Torch TBST”.

“Additionally, a book entitled “Fundamentals of Peace Education and Sustainable Solutions to Insecurity in Nigeria: General CG Musa’s Perspectives” will be launched.

 “We are honored to welcome His Excellency, Ambassador Lieutenant General Tukur Yusufu Buratai (Rtd) CFR, former Chief of Army Staff of Nigeria and former Extraordinary Ambassador to the Benin Republic, along with Lieutenant General Lamidi O. Adeosun (Rtd) CFR, the former Chief of Policy and Plans of the Nigerian Army, as our Special Guests of Honour.

 

“The event will feature guest speakers including Professor Mahfouz Adedimeji, Vice Chancellor of the African School of Economics, Abuja, and Professor Joy Chinwe Eyisi, the first female Deputy Vice Chancellor of the National Open University of Nigeria.

 

“Furthermore, His Royal Majesty, Oba Munirudeen Adesola Lawal, Laminisa I, Timi of Ede, His Royal Majesty, Oba Ademola Ajibola Julius, Olusin of Ijara-Isin, Pastor Hillary Chukwuma, and Alhaji Muhthior Aburagbaja will be honored as Knights of World Peace (KWP). Other distinguished awardees include Alhaja Medinat Hamzat and Mrs. Adeyoju Adebimpe Lucia-Fagbohun, among others.

“The event will also feature contributions from the Ambassadors of the World Institute for Peace from various countries, including the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, Italy, India, Greece, and Belgium.”
