The Minister of State for Works, Barrister Bello Muhammad Goronyo, has expressed satisfaction with the progress made on the ongoing construction and dualisation of the Sokoto-Funtua-Zaria Federal Road.

Goronyo made the commendation during a stopover to interview the engineers working on the project shortly after commissioning a repaired 137km Gusau-Funtua highway by FERMA.

The project, initiated by the Ministry of Works under President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, aims to upgrade the road’s infrastructure using rigid pavement technology.

The minister also praised the Minister of Works, Dave Umahi, for introducing this innovative technology to Nigeria’s construction industry.

“The Sokoto-Funtua-Zaria Federal Road project is a significant undertaking, aimed at improving connectivity and facilitating economic growth in the region, particularly the North West,” he said.

Goronyo added that, upon completion, the road would enhance trade, commerce, and social interactions among the benefiting communities.

The minister was on a two-day working visit to Sokoto, Kebbi, and Zamfara to commission various projects executed by the Federal Road Maintenance Agency (FERMA), Northwest Zone-2.

Among the projects commissioned were the solar street lamp project and 58km of road repairs by FERMA at Mamman Suka town on the Sokoto-Illela Federal Road in Sokoto on Tuesday.
