Women in Global has marked a significant milestone in advancing women’s leadership in the global health sector by celebrating 24 outstanding graduates at its recently concluded close-out ceremony.
The close-out ceremony was a grand and exciting two-day event to highlight the achievements of the graduating doctors who successfully completed their intensive six-month leadership training programme.
The doctors are now poised to drive significant change in the global health sector.
Delivering the keynote address, Special Adviser to the President on Health, Salma Anas, charged the participants to deliver the best healthcare to their patients and contribute to the improvement of healthcare service delivery across the country.
Founder of WILAN Global, Abosede George-Ogan, emphasised the significance of women’s leadership in healthcare.
She said: “Women’s leadership is essential for transformative change within our society. These graduates are ready to make a lasting impact, and I am excited to see what they achieve.”
The ceremony, supported by key partners, including WILAN Global, WMen Leading Change, the Medical Women Association of Nigeria, and Public Health in Real Life, celebrated the achievements of the graduates, while also providing a platform for important discourse about the future of women in global health leadership.
To ensure inclusivity for participants from various locations around the world, the ceremony was conducted as a hybrid event, highlighting a commitment to supporting women leaders across diverse regions.
National President of the Medical Women’s Association of Nigeria (MWAN), Rosemary Ogu, spoke on the power of community, noting: “Community is truly our strength. The togetherness we have fostered in this programme will continue to support these doctors, even beyond this gathering and we are glad it all started right here.”
Participants were particularly engaged by the thought-provoking keynote address and panel discussions that focused on leadership, innovation, and the critical role of women in the global health sector across the world.
The event also featured interactive breakout sessions and ample networking opportunities, providing room for participants to reflect on their training experiences and envision proactive solutions for the healthcare field.
Founder and Director at WMen Leading Change (WMenLC), Maimunat Alex-Adeomi, highlighted the importance of mentorship.
“Having a mentor provides you profound foresight and a wealth of experience to continually tap from. It has been inspiring to witness these women’s growth and development during this journey,” she said.
