Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister Nyesom Wike has reiterated the importance of routine project inspections to ensure high-quality infrastructure delivery.

Speaking to journalists during a site visit, Wike said, “I do know that for us, we cannot just sit in the offices… It is part of our jobs to go and see for ourselves, to look at the quality of the jobs.”

The minister noted that inspections, like one at Mabushi Bus Terminal on Tuesday, allow for timely corrections, preventing issues at commissioning.

Director of Press Anthony Ogunleye detailed inspected projects: the Giri District Road Network, the 16km Inner Northern Expressway (INEX) with a 15-span bridge linking Idu to Kubwa/Zuba, Collector Road CN8 in Jabi, and the Abuja Court of Appeal Complex.

Wike reported that Levante Construction Limited and Salini Nigeria Limited, handling Giri and INEX respectively, aim for completion by May 2025, with the Court of Appeal Complex set for September 2025.

Wike expressed satisfaction with INEX’s bridge progress, stating, “You remember that each time I go there, I complain about the roughness, but now you can see that they have improved on it.”

He emphasised the projects’ alignment with President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, adding, “You can imagine the communities there, how they feel that today, they have a road connecting them to other parts of Abuja.”

Wike assured contractors of prompt payments to avoid delays.
