A Non-Governmental Organisation, Grateful Giving, has embarked on distribution of food items to two orphanage homes in Abeokuta, Ogun State, to allow the residents feel the spirit of the yuletide.
The items distributed included cartons of milk, corn flakes, bags of rice, cartons of spaghetti, packs of non-alcoholic beverages and cartons of noodles.
Handing over the food items to the management of Gideon Orphanage, Aged, Young Widow and Physically Challenged Home, Asero, Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital, the representative of the NGO, Olugbenga Awe, urged the children and staff of the Home to cultivate an attitude of gratitude for God’s provisions.
He reassured them that the NGO would continue to support them, bringing happiness and a sense of belonging to each inmate.
Responding, the Administrative Manager of Gideon Orphanage Home, Apata Oluwaseun, thanked the NGO for the gesture despite the current economic hardship facing the country, adding the the food items would go a long way in putting smiles on the faces of the beneficiaries.
He disclosed that the Home founded in September 2008 presently has 24 children, over 200 aged mothers, over 40 young widows and about 30 persons living with disabilities.
“I will say God has been faithful, it hasn’t been easy with the hardship and all in the country but God has really been faithful.
“On behalf of my boss, Mrs Oluwatoyin Banjo, the founder of the Gideon Orphanage Home, I am saying thank you for the items brought to us, God will repay you in a thousand folds”, Apata stated.
Making similar donation to the Yemisi Alogi Orphanage located inside FAJOL Estate, Obantoko, Abeokuta, Awe revealed that the organisation spent millions of naira on the donations alone.
He added that the organisation has plans to expand its activities to the educational sector by offering scholarships to deserving children.
“For the past five years, Grateful Giving NGO has been consistently supporting the motherless homes and orphanages with food donations,” Awe said.
He emphasised that the donations aimed to ensure that all the people in the Homes could also celebrate a joyous Christmas saying: “Despite the economic challenges being faced by the country, our NGO remains steadfast in its commitment to bringing a glimmer of happiness to the lives of the underprivileged.”
Receiving the items, Tobiloba Emmanuel, founder of Yemisi Alogi Children’s Home assured that the food items would serve its purpose as the Home also cares for widows and offers medical outreach to the aged and the vulnerable ones.
He thanked the NGO for the kind gesture, urging other NGOs to emulate love and care exhibited towards the less privileged by Grateful Giving.
