The regional finals of the 25th MILO Basketball Championship concluded with the Western Conference held at Lekan Salami Stadium, Adamasingba, Ibadan, bringing an end to the regional stages of the nationwide tournament.

The event showcased exceptional talent, teamwork, and grit, reinforcing MILO s continued commitment to youth development through sports. In the boys’ category, Davidhall International College, Lagos claimed victory over God Blessing Comprehensive College, Oyo, with a final score of 53–35.

Alaughe Ezekiel, who contributed 20 points to Davidhall’s tally, was named Most Valuable Player (MVP). In the girls’ category, Onireke High School, Oyo emerged winners after a tightly contested game against Lanreleke Academy, Osun, ending 44–41.

Despite the defeat, Jude Precious from Osun received the MVP award for her outstanding performance, scoring 26 points. Speaking at the event on behalf of Ifeanyi Orabuche, Category Manager, Beverages, Nestle Nigeria Charles Ikpe, Category Development Executive, emphasized the significance of the Championship: “This is more than basketball. It is a celebration of 25 years of commitment to nurturing dreams, building champions, and shaping lives. Through this Championship, we don’t just teach the game, we instill values such as discipline, resilience, teamwork, leadership, and above all, grit.”

The Western Conference marked the final regional stop of the tournament, which has travelled across Nigeria, from the Savannah Conference in Kano, to the Central Conference in Abuja, and the Atlantic Conference in Asaba. Regional champions have now been confirmed from all zones, with two additional best-performing runners-up set to complete the roster for the national finals.

The MILO Basketball Championship remains one of Nigeria’s longest-running youth sports initiatives, using basketball as a tool to empower future leaders through values-driven competition.
