The reTHINK Initiative has taken another step forward to elevate the entertainment industry by engaging young talents to promote creativity in storytelling and other forms of arts for national development, Convener of the reTHINK Boot camp, Femi Otta, has said.

Otta, in a statement, said the initiative deeply recognized the persuasive influence which every piece of content wields over the human psyche, hence, reTHINK emerges as an ardent initiative to endow young people with passion for entertainment with the requisite skills and profound insights.

The Convener maintained that the skills were essential for crafting content and cinema that transcends entertainment, fostering reflective contemplation and promoting constructive action.

“Through our unwavering endeavours, we engender a lasting and beneficial impact on individuals and society at large. Our primary mission is to harness the formidable potential of storytelling as a formidable instrument for propelling positive social change, thereby contributing to the broader objective of national transformation”

Otta stressed that since its establishment in 2015, reTHINK has consistently organized annual boot camps and recurring events that serve as invaluable crucibles for learning, networking and collaboration among creative enthusiasts.

He added that the group has nurtured a community of filmmakers who appreciate the transformative potential of storytelling in shaping the society, noting that selected participants gain access to free training and comprehensive instructions across diverse facets of filmmaking with a focus on societal impact.

“Following this training, participants choose a specific topical issue and produce a short film addressing it. Notably, numerous alumni of our boot camp have continued along this path, creating films that wield a profound influence within the media landscape and the society at large,” he affirmed.
