The Federal Ministry of Water Resources and Sanitation has launched the 2023 Capacity Building In-House Training on the Revised Public Service Rules for staff.
In his welcome address during the training, in Abuja, yesterday,the Permanent Secretary, Shehu Aliyu Shinkafi highlighted the pivotal role of innovations in advancing the Public Service towards becoming a world-class Civil Service.
The permanent secretary who was represented by Director Water Supply, Dr. Dumebi Madu, stressed that the Revised Public Service Rules aimed equipping staff with up-to-date knowledge and practices, fostering effective and efficient public service delivery.
He emphasised that the proper application of these rules will enhance the seamless operation of the Public Service, elevating staff competencies, skills, productivity, and human relations administration.
The permanent secretary also informed that the Public Service Rules, considered an invaluable compendium of guidelines, underwent its latest revision in 2021, introducing crucial innovations such as the Performance Management System (PMS), Rewards for Outstanding Work, Training and Capacity Development, Virtual Meetings and Engagements, Tenure Policy for Directors and Permanent Secretaries, Paternity Leave, Inventions, among others.
Shinkafi conveyed the privilege of participants in undergoing this training, stressing that adherence to these rules is crucial for governing the actions of Public Servants at work. He urged participants to approach the training with seriousness, ensuring the optimal utilisation of the acquired knowledge.
Present on Day One of the Training Session were Directorate Level Officers of the Ministry and Facilitators from the Office of the Head of Service of the Federation . Subsequent days of the three-day training will include officers from various grade levels.
