After 58 hours, 28 minutes and 95 seconds, Subair Enitan, a 200-level student in the Department of Linguistics, Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile-Ife, Osun State, stopped the hand wash marathon and drove to the hospital.
The student who vowed to wash with hand for 50 hours to beat the Guinness World Record started at 1 pm on Friday and stopped at 11:25 pm on Sunday.
Enitan was taken away by the ambulance already stationed by the management of the university as part of the requirement to commence the task.
She was taken to the hospital amidst eulogy by her coursemates and students of the university.
Speaking with journalists in the hospital, Enitan said, “When I was pressed, I was like, can I go through this thing? That my mum and my friends are in this crowd, I feel very fulfilled to complete this task right in front of my mum.”
The Student Union President, Abass Akinremi-Ojo, appreciated the families of Enitan, particularly her mother who stood with them from the beginning till the end, and all the students who provided fun to encourage her to ensure that she reached her target.
