The senator representing Sokoto North senatorial district Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko has declared that the performance of Governor Ahmed Aliyu in the past two years has surpassed expectations, silencing critics who once doubted his capability to lead Sokoto State.
Speaking during the inauguration of the newly renovated and remodelled Hassan Dan Mu’azu Jumu’at Mosque in Runjin Sambo, Wamakko commended the Governor’s dedication to infrastructural development and religious causes. The mosque project, executed by the state government, is among several faith-driven interventions under the current administration.
“Many doubted him before the election, branding him as unpopular and inexperienced,” Wamakko said. “But they forgot that with Allah on one’s side, success is inevitable. Today, Ahmed Aliyu’s achievements speak louder than their doubts.”
Wamakko, a former governor and political mentor to the current administration, expressed optimism that Sokoto would witness even greater progress under Governor Aliyu’s leadership. He described the Governor as a divine blessing to the state and urged residents to continue their support for the administration.
In a message delivered by his deputy, Alhaji Idris Mohammed Gobir, Governor Ahmed Aliyu reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to supporting religious causes, stressing that “no amount of money spent on religious courses is too much.”
The Governor also expressed appreciation to the people of Sokoto for their prayers and continued cooperation.
The event attracted community leaders, religious scholars, and government officials, all of whom lauded the initiative as a testament to the state government’s respect for religion and tradition.
