Some university, polytechnics and colleges of education lecturers on the platform of Progressives in Academics, have endorsed the second term bid of President Muhammadu Buhari.
The lecturers, drawn from the six geopolitical zones, said they endorsed the president because of his modest achievements in the fight against corruption, insurgency and reviving of the economy.
Addressing newsmen yesterday in Abuja, the convener of the group and an associate professor, Bolarinwa Bolaji, urged Nigerians to vote massively for Buhari to enable him consolidate on his achievements so far.
The lecturers blamed the current woes of the country on past administrations. According to them, President Buhari inherited a bad economy and a country divided along ethnic and religious lines.
“President Buhari has gotten what it takes to continue in office due to his numerous achievements in office. He is deserving of being reelected.

“Consequently, we hereby call on all Nigerians to go out on Saturday to reelect President Muhammadu Buhari and all other APC candidates so as to take Nigeria and Nigerians to the next level. The journey has started, we cannot afford to derail. It is the right thing to do, Bolaji said on behalf of other lecturers.
He added: “In the area of agriculture, President Buhari has recorded a huge success. There is what we can refer to as rice revolution now.
“The opposition is using hike in the price of rice as yardstick to campaign. If you get to the market today, you will see locally produced rice which is more nourishing at lesser price than the imported rice which is already par boiled.
“The good news is that the price of local rice will continue to drop as we go. If not for the floods that ravaged many farmlands in 2018, today the price would have reduced below imagination. President Buhari has continued his accountability in that sector. He said the amount saved as a result of ban on the importation of rice is being channeled to developing infrastructures and construction of roads across the country.”
