• To pay 30th months to public servants

Governor Hope Uzodinma has guaranteed Imolites who are returning to the state for a peaceful, safe and joyful Yultide and New Year celebrations as the state government has put adequate security in place.

This is even as the governor will be keeping with his tradition of paying 13th Months to the public servants in the state.

In a statement on Wednesday by Ownwasoanya FCC Jones, Special Adviser (Public Communications) to Governor Uzodinma said that the state government has put adequate security measures to ensure that Imolites who are returning to the state for the Christmas and New Year celebrations have a safe, Peaceful and joyful celebrations with members of the families and loved ones.

The statement which read in part said: “While the governor works round the clock in his bid to make life more enjoyable, peaceful and fulfilling for the citizenry, everyday of the year, he understands the special significance of the Yuletide season to all Christians, and being cognisant of the reality that 95% of Imolites are Christians, who are passionate about this special Christian festival, he has put in, even extra work in order to ensure a hitch-free, peaceful and highly enjoyable season for everyone.

One of the basic traditions of his administration is to pay a 13th month salary to all public servants in the State. This practice which has been consistent since 2020, shall continue this year, as relevant officials have been directed to implement the policy. This means that every Imolite in the public service shall be receiving 100% more salary than they receive in other months. “

Continuing, ” In collaboration with the Federal Government, the governor had earlier in the month kicked off the distribution of free bags of rice to citizens of Imo State and as well approved the distribution of highly subsidised superior grains of rice, which every Imolite, who is interested, shall have the opportunity to access.

Already, major roads across the breadth and width of the State are wearing new looks. Beyond the rehabilitation of critical roads across the State capital, residents of other major cities of Orlu and Okigwe can attest to the improved state of key roads in these areas, including the installation of beautiful road furniture and other safety and aesthetic features.”

He added , “Over the past month, security agencies have been empowered to cleanse Imo of troublemakers. Starting from Aku, a community in Okigwe LGA of the State, our gallant security operatives have recorded great success in clearing Imo communities of criminals and terrorists, thereby, guaranteeing the security of lives and properties, not just during this festive season, but always.

Imolites can be assured that beyond the guarantees of improved welfare and other efforts made by the governor to guarantee safe, fast and easy transportation within the State, the governor has also made it possible for Imo to be one of the safest States for anyone, both indigenes and visitors, to enjoy their Christmas holiday.”
