Imo State Governor, Senator Hope Uzodimma, has sacked the state Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Barr Cyprian O. C. Akaolisa.

This was disclosed in a terse statement on Monday, May 26, 2025, signed by Hon Declan Emelumba, Commissioner for Information, Public Orientation, and Strategy.

The statement read: “The Governor of Imo State, His Excellency, Senator Hope Uzodimma, CON, has approved the immediate removal from office of the State Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Barr C. O. C. Akaolisa.

“The erstwhile commissioner has been directed to hand over all government property under his care to the State Solicitor General and Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Justice, immediately.”

No reason was given for the removal of the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, a political ally of the governor.
