The United Patriotic People of Nigeria (UPPN) has expressed profound sorrow following the recent bombing incident in Gwoza, Borno State. The explosion, which occurred at Tashan Mararaba during a wedding event, was carried out by a female suicide bomber believed to be associated with the Boko Haram terrorist group.
In a statement signed by its President Abubakar Shuaibu, the UPPN conveyed its heartfelt condolences to the families and friends of the victims.
“As patriotic citizens, we are emotionally saddened by yet another IED explosion by a suspected member of Boko Haram. We join the relatives and well-wishers of the victims in mourning their loss,” the statement read.
The UPPN also extended its wishes for a speedy recovery to those injured in the attack, who are currently receiving medical treatment. “We wish them God’s special intervention for a quick recovery,” the statement added.
In light of the attack, the UPPN has called on the residents of Gwoza and surrounding areas to remain vigilant and to support security agencies by providing reliable information on any suspicious activities. “We urge the people to continue giving support and reliable information to the security agencies whenever they suspect any unusual movements,” the statement concluded.
The bombing is a stark reminder of the ongoing security challenges in northeastern Nigeria, where Boko Haram has been active for over a decade. The UPPN’s call for vigilance underscores the importance of community cooperation in combating terrorism.
