Igbo women, from the seven Igbo speaking states of Nigeria under the auspices of Umuada Igbo Nigeria and in Diaspora, have appealed to the federal and state governments to increase employment opportunities for Persons Living With Disabilities (PLWDs).

It also demanded that that microcredit scheme be specifically designed to help many of them start up various business ventures instead of resorting to begging.
President General/founder of Umuada Igbo Nigeria and in Diaspora, Lolo Kate Ezeofor made the call during the group’s maiden Christmas Charity Outreach for PLWDs held at Goodluck Ebele Jonathan Convocation Arena, Godfrey Okoye University, Enugu.
Ezeofor said that people with disabilities needed care and encouragement from the public, adding that government should do more for this special group of people.
In addition, she said that the organization also visited some hospitals and paid the medical bills of the needy to enable them enjoy the yuletide.
Ezeofor used the opportunity to once again, call on President Bola Tinubu to release the leader of Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu from the Department of State Service (DSS) custody.
Umuada Igbo Nigeria and in Diaspora which has special consultative status with Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) at the United Nations, New York, USA and Geneva, Switzerland, said that it is desirous of peace in the region and will stop at nothing to achieve that.
