The Main Organising Committee (MOC), of the maiden edition of the Ultimate Scrabble Showdown scheduled to hold in Lagos, Nigeria from July 19 to 21 says they are ready to stage a world-class event.
The Director of Logistics of the Ultimate Scrabble Showdown, Babajide Alagbada, said they have crossed the 70 percent mark in their preparations.
“In the coming days, we hope to speed-up our preparations. Those in charge of entertainment and refreshments during the event are putting finishing touches to their buying while the designer who is to dress the players are almost done,” Alagbada said.
Genesis Grid Homes, the choice location for this epoch making competition is already wearing a new look.
Over the weekend, Studiomax did a photoshoot for the two gladiators, Oluwatimilehin Doko and Enoch Nwali. Bigbee photography was on hand to capture the contestants in style.
Alagbada explained that the players are expected to check in by 2pm on Friday the 19th and the first round of games will start by 4pm after lunch.
“You can be certain that the atmosphere will be adrenalizing throughout the competition and the closing ceremony will be spine-tingling,” the Logistics Director added.
The two players involved in the maiden edition of the Ultimate Scrabble Showdown, Oluwatimilehin Doko and Enoch Nwali have assured scrabble followers, lovers and stakeholders that they will make ever minute on the board breathtaking, appealing and titillating.
“I’ve been preparing to the best of my ability, I hope am prepared to take him on when the day comes, my aim everyday is to play well, it doesn’t matter who am playing, so I’ll play Scrabble the best I can and have fun,” Oluwatimilehin Doko said.
On his part, Enoch Nwali says, “ I’m ready, to play good games and put forth the best of my ability to test against the most in-form player in Africa.”
Both players who are students of the University of Lagos (UNILAG), in Nigeria, belong to the same scrabble clubs, UNILAG Scrabble Club in the NSF Inter-Club Challenge and Hurricane SC in the MGI Premier League.
