Governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Enugu State, Dr. Peter Mbah, has applauded Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi for the quality leadership, peace and security the state has enjoyed under his PDP-led administration.

He said the peace and security that Ugwuanyi has entrenched in Enugu State in the last seven and half years had brought extensive infrastructural development to the state.

The PDP governorship candidate pointed out that it was a milestone achievement that the public and civil servants in Enugu State receive their emoluments as and when due, adding that workers have also enjoyed industrial harmony under his administration.

Mbah who described Ugwuanyi as “a greater leader” described him as a governor with an eagle eye to identify and see beyond anyone else.

“You (Ugwuanyi) understand and know your constituency much better than anyone else,” he said.

Mbah said Ugwuanyi is the leader of the PDP in Enugu State and the South East geo-political zone. He said the Enugu governor has really shown true leadership which ensured that “we are still and remain one political family.”

He spoke when leaders and members of Oganiru Enugu, a support group of the senator representing Enugu West Senatorial District, Ike Ekweremadu, formally collapsed their political structures in support of Mbah’s governorship bid as directed by their patron.

Mbah said: “Our party recognises one man as leader and Your Excellency Ugwuanyi, you have really shown true leadership. We are here today because of your leadership qualities. We are also here today to show that we still and will remain one political family and we have come together to put that seal and to say to you that we are under your leadership at all times as PDP members.”

Speaking, Ugwuanyi called for prayers and asked Sir Ralph Onovo to pray and commit what Ekweremadu was going through in the UK into the hands of God.

The governor enjoined members of the group and others to book Mass for the Senator and his family every week and equally embark on private prayers for Ekweremadu to overcome his challenges.

Ugwuanyi said it was pertinent to show love to someone when he or she is not around for one reason or the other.

He urged members of the group to have a strong mind “for this too will pass away.”

The governor commended the National President of Ndi Oganiru Enugu, Jude Asogwa and other members of the executive council for their loyalty to Ekweremadu and informed members of the group that his administration would keep them abreast of the development in London, reassuring them that “this too will pass away.”

The group, at the well-attended reception, said the endorsement became necessary because the gubernatorial flagbearer had shown his potent and robust manifesto, stressing that they were enthralled by his pledge to ramp up Enugu State’s gross democratic product (GDP) from its present $4 billion to $30 billion within four to eight years of his administration.

Formally collapsing their structure to Mbah and PDP Campaign Organisation, its president, Jude Asogwa, said the body has a strong presence in the 260 wards of the state, 36 states of the federation and 16 countries of the world which would be mobilised for the PDP.

Asogwa who further insisted that the primary election was over, maintained that their endorsement was also in fulfilment of Senator Ekweremadu’s promise to support Mbah’s candidacy immediately after the May 25, 2022 PDP primary.

“The primary election has come and gone. Things did not go Ikeoha’s way. But being a party man, who is never desperate about life, after consultations with his political associates and the leaderships of his support groups, he personally issued a statement entitled “Ndi Enugu, Time to Unite” where he congratulated Dr. Peter Mbah. Ikeoha Global also went on to say that his political structures would be merged with that of Dr. Peter Mbah to ensure that he is delivered as the next governor of Enugu State. Consequently, he instructed that we should not only work for the election of Dr. Peter Mbah and of the PDP, but also own the project and give it all that we have.”
