History is not just what we inherit. It is what we choose to honor, preserve, and pass on, the world awakens to a cultural reformation rooted in justice, identity, and rebirth as the “Two Lives, One Hope” Global Heritage Movement is officially launched, a transformative vision set to culminate in TwinsFest 2025, a Pan-African celebration of twinhood and cultural preservation to be held from November 27th to 29th in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State.
This launch pays tribute to the legendary humanitarian, Mary Slessor, whose courage in the late 19th century ended the brutal persecution of twins in Nigeria. But more than a remembrance, this is a renaissance of values a call to the global community to rise in solidarity and build a future where every child is sacred, and every culture is celebrated.
A New Cultural Horizon: Africa at the Heart of Humanity, TwinsFest 2025 is not a festival alone it is a global rallying point, a cultural diplomacy platform, and an emotional reckoning that seeks to heal, educate, and elevate.
For centuries, twins in certain African societies were considered taboo hidden, harmed, and silenced. Mary Slessor disrupted that darkness, embodying courage and compassion that would save thousands.
Today, we reclaim and elevate that story into a movement that spans continents. From Uyo to the world, this movement merges culture with innovation, tradition with humanity, and history with hope.
This cultural awakening is proudly endorsed by the Government of Akwa Ibom State, represented by the Hon. Commissioner for Culture & Tourism, Hon. Anietie Udofia, who expressed unwavering support for the campaign’s humanitarian depth and cultural significance.
With the visionary leadership of Ambassador Offiong E. Akpan progenitor of TwinsFest and Chairman of the Mary Slessor Heritage Project the campaign is positioned to unite the world through the lens of African heritage and global empathy.
A New Home for Legacy: The Mary Slessor Heritage and Learning Centre, at the heart of this initiative lies the planned construction of the Mary Slessor Heritage & Learning Centre in Uyo — a first-of-its-kind cultural sanctuary to house exhibitions, archives, children’s learning spaces, and virtual interactive tools that immortalize the courage of one woman and the dignity of millions.
Global Collaboration, African-Led Execution, at the core of the strategy is Our Heritage Branding & Advertising Ltd, Africa’s foremost cultural marketing consultancy and the official lead for all communications, media partnerships, and brand strategy.
