The defendants – Chinecherem Ibezim, 23; and Nonso Onwuakpandu, 29; are standing trial on a two-count charge of conspiracy and stealing.
The defendants, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The prosecutor, ASP Simon Uche, told the court that the defendants committed the offences between January 2023 and March 8, 2025, at the Alaba International Market in Ojo, Lagos.

The prosecution said that the defendants were arrested following police investigations.
According to him, the offences contravene Sections 287 and 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
Magistrate L.K.J Layeni granted the defendants bail in the sum of N1 million each, with two sureties each in like sum.
He adjourned the case until May 7, 2025, for hearing.
