Tragedy struck, Monday in Kano, after a newly married pregnant woman set herself and her spouse ablaze over an unresolved family quarrel.

The tragedy which happened at No 54 Middle Road, Sabon-garri area of the state, threw  the resident of the area as well as the Igbo community in the state into huge shock.

Daily Sun gathered that the woman, married a few weeks back, allegedly took the gory step after she accused her husband of infidelity.

It was gathered that she threw caution into the wind after a call she placed on her husband’s cell phone was picked by an unknown lady,

An eyewitness revealed that the woman, who was burnt beyond recognition, passed away immediately after the incident while her husband was rushed to Fortress Hospital located at Sarki-Yaki within Kano metropolis for First Aid attention. He was later moved to an undisclosed hospital.

A co-tenant to the victims, Mr Emmanuel Okorie gave the name of the man as Mr . Emeka, while adding that the couple hailed from Anambra State.

He hinted that the lady was married  five weeks earlier and returned to Kano three weeks ago.

He confirmed that the couple was having issues right from the start adding that Mr Emeka had hinted him that he almost turned down the offer of marrying the woman but for pressure from his mother.

He further explained that it took the intervention of the state fire service to quench the inferno while adding that a team of police from No-mansland Division had since deposited the corpse in the mortuary.
